Carrot Seed & Lime Essential Oils

Wellwellwell, I’m a few days late for my normal Sunday night blogs… Sorry. Sometimes I just don’t have the creativity or the gumption to write. It could also be the simple fact that Max does not want to sleep this week and it’s wearing on me. Zzzzzzzzzzz. Oh hello, sorry, I forgot I was in the middle of writing.

Enough about me, let’s talk about Carrot Seed Essential Oil! Yes! Say goodbye to water retention. So nice for my 7, 8, and 9 months into pregnancy, cankles! Good Lord. My remedy, a few drops of carrot seed oil in a tablespoon of a carrier oil and apply to cankles, no ankles, yah let’s not lie, I had full-blown cankle action over here. It was glorious, nope!

Even more great news! After Max was born and the cankle’s disappeared… I acquired bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep. Oooooooo, isn’t life sweet. Full of sunshine and sweet sweet rainbows. Evil. People don’t like to talk about this stuff, they just talk about how wonderful it is to be a parent. (Don’t get me wrong, it’s the most amazing job in the world,) but let’s be real and let’s talk about the crazy things that happen to our bodies during and after pregnancy. Bags….no sleep….sooooo tired. My favorite under eye bag remover, straight up Carrot Seed Oil around my eyes. A cold compress (which just feels WONDERFUL,)  then after a small drop of the oil on my finger tip and gingerly dab it around my eyeball. Bada-bing not so puffy eyes. Oh yah!

A little more about Carrot Seed Oil
Historically it was used for kidney disorder and liver disorder. It is also used for eczema, wrinkles, oily skin, water retention, and liver problems. Carrot seed oil can help fight infections on the skin and in open wounds. When ingested, it effectively helps to cure infections of the throat, mouth, colon, stomach, intestines and urinary system

Carrot seed oil is antiparasitic, antiseptic, depurative, and vasodilatory.

Next up Li,Li,Li, Lime! Oh, the smell alone will make you want to use it. Honestly, it is one of the newest oils I have purchased and it is a contender in the race to my favorites basket. Oh let’s face it, they are not that organized, my favorite oils are on my bathroom counter next to my makeup and it’s starting to get a little crowded.

Again, the smell will make you want to use it for anything and everything. Yummy. I put it in my water and the benefit to that, other than taste, is that it helps support your respiratory system and strengthen your immune system and is a natural appetite suppressant. Bonus! The other thing I use Lime Essential Oil for is my acne. Yah, I said it. I’ve tried other oils that are supposed to help with acne and they didn’t work and sometimes they made it worse, but lime oil, yes! I love it! It dries out any pimple that dare sneak up onto the surface of my skin. Haha! Get Out!! It also helps diminish dark spots and even out your skin tone. Heck Yes, I LOVE it.

Melrose Essential Oil & Animal Scents Ointment

I wanted to share with you all a little about my essential oils journey. In just a few short months I have learned an extensive amount about essential oils. Honestly, I never thought I would be this excited about them. For a long time I shrugged them off, thinking to myself, that they couldn’t be for real. Oh heck, was I wrong! wrong about it all. I love them and they are seriously, THE BOMB!! I have had so many odd ailments, acne, tooth problems, and a pregnancy issues that I have healed without have to use synthetic modern day medicines!

This week I talk about my painful experience with thrush and breastfeeding. Yah, not fun and not comfortable. Ugh. First of all, I have no idea how Max came down with it, but it started slow. At first it just looked like leftover milk on the insides of his cheeks, and then one day it coated his whole mouth. It didn’t seem to bother him, so before I called the doctor I did my own research. I am not a fan of going blindly into the doctors office and taking any prescription they suggest.
So, I began my research and to sum it up, thrush is an overgrowth of yeast in the mouth and the prescription would be an anti-fungal medication. At a month old, I was not comfortable giving him any medication unless it were absolutely necessary. But, if thrush is not taken care of, it could travel through his digestive system and cause yeast overgrowth on his tush causing a sever diaper rash, and also it could transfer to my nipples. Which then it could turn into a terrible ongoing back and forth from me to him infection.
Melrose to the rescue!
It is safe and gentile for babies and mommy’s tata’s. 5 minutes before I fed Max I would dab my finger in the Melrose and rub onto the inside of Max’s cheeks and on his tongue. after I was finished feeding him, I would clean myself and add a drop to my glorious nipple butter and apply.
After a couple applications I noticed the white patches start to break up and flake off. within a week he was thrush free and we never had to visit the doctors office. woot woot! sucess!

More about Melrose:
It is a mixture of four different oils. Melaleuca (tea tree) oil which is antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparrasitic, and anti-inflamitory. Niaouli oil is anti-infectious, antiparaseptic, and antibacterial. Rosemary, which is antiseptic, antifungal, and antimicrobial. Clove oil is one of the most antimicrobial and antiseptic off all the essential oils. It is also antifungal, antiviral, antiinfectious, and antibacterial.

Melrose is also good for baby acne, dilute 1:1 with a carrier oil and apply to area. ear infection, dilute 1:10 and apply around the ear, down the neck and on the bottom of feet.

The other thing I want to talk about this week is a product called Animal Scents. There are not too many diaper rash creams that I like. Most of them have crazy, crazycrazy, amounts of ingredients in them! Why do we want to smother our kids in toxins? I just don’t get it. Anyways, ranting asside, this ointment is amaizing. Max has very sensitive skin, it seems that the littlest things will bother his skin. Especially where his diaper rubs on his legs. After just a couple of applications of Animal Scents in a day and it’s gone. No weird ingredients list, just all natural goodness, and a happy baby 🙂 He also gets small patches of eczema in the crease of his elbows. A little animal scents in the morning and it is gone within a day or two.

Animal scents is good for a ton of different things. Chapped/dry skin (like hard working farmer man chapped skin,) stinky smelly nasty feet 😉 cuts, scrapes, bruses, you can even use it on you animals (i.e. Animal How to use: Clean the affected area. Apply as needed.

Ingredients: Mink oil, Lecithin, Beeswax, Lanolin, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Cymbopogon Martini (Palmarosa) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot Seed) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Abies Balsamea (Idaho Balsam Fir) Oil, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Resin Oil, Melaleuca alternifoila Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Furanocoumarin-free Bergamot) Peel Oil, Rosa Rubginosa (Rose Hip) Seed Oil, Canaga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flower Oil.

Lavender & Grapefruit

Lavender & Grapefruit Essential Oils

There are many benefits to these essential oils. To me, it has been a lifesaver and mega mood booster after the birth of my little dude, Max.

I was tired and carrying extra chub in my hips, thighs, and tush and to top it off, the cellulite, really?!?! Which seemed to come out of nowhere! ugh.sigh.blah! Seriously how could such an amazing experience be followed up with more lady problems? What!?!?

The one thing I did everyday during my pregnancy that left me stretch mark free, (yah, I said it, and I’m not even lying!!) Lavender. This, hands down, is my favorite essential oil. I put it on everything, like breastfeeding mamas put breast milk on everything that needs extra love and healing 😉 Burns, scrapes, pimples, scars, cradle cap or as most of us call it (crap,) smelly feet, mix it into your favorite diaper rash cream, put it on your hoohoo; for those unspeakable itchy days. ANYTHING. Seriously, anything. My magic stretch mark potion consisted of unrefined coconut oil and lavender essential oil. Boom! Not one stretch mark. I applied it in the morning directly after the shower to lock in the moisture and also before bed to maximize the skins healing process during sleep. Kazam!

A little more about lavender

Lavender essential oil has an ORAC of 360uTe/100g.

It has the ability to promote tissue regeneration and to speed up wound healing.

Medical Properties of Lavender:
Antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, antitumoral, anticonvulsant, vasodilating, relaxant, anti-inflammatory, and reduces blood fat/ cholesterol. Lavender can also help with acne by combating excess sebum on the skin.

Lavender is calming and helps balance emotional and physical exhaustion. It can also help concentration when diffused. Research has been found that the inhalation of Lavender increases the beta waves in the brain. (Study done by University of Miami.)

So, now that the fear of stretch marks has passed, I’m left with cellulite on my lady parts (butt, hips, and thighs.) Might I also mention a little extra pudge around my midsection. Yay! Can you feel the sarcasm?

Citrus oils to the rescue!

They rejuvenate the skin and get the blood flowing to the area they are applied. I chose Grapefruit, the smell is so uplifting and happy, (also helping my mood.) Hallelujah!

I did the same thing with the grapefruit oil as I did with the lavender and unrefined coconut oil, I replaced the lavender with grapefruit. Mmmmm Mmmmm good. Although, I do like to apply a few drops directly on the really bumpy spots, (the tush.) In the two weeks of religious application, day and night, I have seen at least a 30 percent decrease in the cottage cheese like tone in these areas. Sweet! I’m starting to feel a little more normal.

Grapefruit as well as other citrus essential oils, are natural fat burners. Ca-ching! Yup, you heard me 😉 In this case, I add a few drops to my water throughout the day as well as apply the potion to my mid section. The citrus helps breakdown fat cells.

A little more about Grapefruit

Grapefruit Essential Oils has an ORAC of 22,600uTE/100g

Medical properties of Grapefruit essential oils:
Antitumoral, metabolic stimulant, antiseptic, detoxifying, diuretic, fat-dissolving, cleansing for kidneys, lymphatic and vascular system, antidepressant. (88-95%) Limonene, which has been show to combat tumor growth.
