It’s been a while…

So I know it’s been a while, I’ve been busy working, and taking care of our now almost 3 yo and our 1.5 yo! Time really flys. We had the beginnings of a farm going, with chickens, turkeys, a guardian dog and goats… and then it all changed very quickly. We found out in October that I was pregnant with our 3rd baby and the house we were living in was entirely too small for our fast growing family. Before I got too far along in the pregnancy we need to move and Stat! So, we found loving home for all of our animals and made the move to the suburbs… Not what we are looking for but the rent was good and so was the location for us. This is our temporary home for a couple of years and then we will look for our forever home with plenty of land to grow our farm once again. It was a sad move, neither of us wanted to do it but we knew it had to be done. And thank god we did it early on in the pregnancy, because this one has been the hardest of all. I am chronically tired and uncomfortable, I would have not been able to help with the move and that would have drove me crazy! I am not one to sit back and watch others do all the work, I like to get my hands dirty, I like to help, I like to work. But enough about our crazy home life, I’ve got some essential oil creations to talk about!

Our poor little 18 month old, she has been getting these crazy rashes on her bottom. She has ALWAYS had trouble pooping, like so much so that she poops once or twice a week and sometimes not at all. It kind of runs in the family 🤔. Piper may or may not have an Aunt that has this same problem 😂 sorry Leah ❤. Anyways, this past month or so she has been pooping just a tiny bit at a time, like four times a day, it is making her little tush so freaking raw that it sometimes blisters in spots. We have tried every cream, non-cream, just water… everything. Nothing seems to work for her. Mind you, my kids have super sensitive skin when it comes to some things… So being tired of all the crap that companies put into diaper creams, paired with, finding some spare time this weekend 😜 I made my own. And one night of using it, her little bum looked 90% better! Amazing. And it is like way, way cheaper to make. I am kind of an odd ball though, I already had all the ingredients on hand. Ask my husband, I have a closet full of diy stuff- Young Living essential oils, carrier oils, creams, glass bottles, powders, additives, you name it, I possibly have it 😂.  I might have Problem…
So this butt cream is super simple, not a lot needs to go into it:

  • Organic coconut oil
  • Organic Almond oil
  • Corn starch
  • Zinc powder
  • Lavender essential oil (I will only use and trust the purity of Young Living oils) Buy here

I used about 4 tablespoons of coconut oil, a half teaspoon of almond oil, a half tablespoon of zinc powder, and 6-8 drops of lavender. Then I mixed in the corn starch to get the desired consistency. I probably had to add about four tablespoons or more. The consistency was smooth but not too oily, it left a good barrier on her to protect her skin, the added corn starch and zinc helped dry out the existing rash, and the added lavender to soothe and help heal her poor little bum. I feel good about using this on both kids and even the new baby when he arrives in June 🤗.

The other thing I was able to research and make this weekend was a cleansing oil, for my crazy hormonal face! I have read about cleansing oils in the past and always wanted to try them. It also thought to myself, ugh, my face is already oily-ish how the heck is that going to work?!?! Lately my skin has been so weird, it’s dry, it’s oily, it’s clear, it’s not-so-clear, it has wrinkles, its blotchy… seriously, I feel like I’m a teenager or in my early 20’s again! Pregnancy is an interesting thing, it can be so cool in one aspect but completely suck in another.

Let me be real with you all, pregnancy can be so amazing and crazy (in a good way) but I am not the girl that is going to tell you it’s all rainbows and sunshine. I do not love it. It can completely blow most of the time! I am exhausted (and can’t drink much coffee,) I am uncomfortable, I am huge, I lose my breath just standing up, I am bloated, I retain water in my lower legs/feet, hands and face, I have heartburn after just about anything I eat, I can smell every disgusting smell x100. I think people that say they love being pregnant are straight crazy! Crazy. Cra-zy. But it is all worth it when you see that screaming bundle of joy, so sweet and innocent. You get to watch them grow into little people, you get to see their minds working, trying to figure the world out, that to me is amazing. When I sit and watch my kids work though a problem, you can litterly see thier mini brains at work, it is insane and completely amazing to experience. That makes it all worth it.

Okay so I got side tracked there… back to my skin problems. So, I have been unhappy with my face wash and creams. It just felt like nothing was really working for me, nothing was cleaning it good enough and nothing was providing enough moisture… I’m on the back end of my 30’s now, my skin is not as supple or youthful as it used to be and it is hard to find an affordable skin care routine. I mean I’m sure some of these super expensive creams work but I’m not about to spend my money to find out. Plus, they have all sorts of wacky chemicals in them- it can’t be good for you.

I have always read about using olive oil to clean your face but thought, heck no! My face is oily, that would be a disaster. After doing some research over the weekend I found out that those thoughts were completely not accurate. Oil cleansing helps balance your sebum production and even out you skin tone. I also found out that you can mix in other oils that have an astringent base to help fight oil. It doesn’t dry your skin out but it also doesn’t leave it oily. I did read that some people had adverse reaction to it for 1-2 weeks as their body was detoxifying. So far I have been using it for 3 days and nights, and I have not experienced any acne or access oil.

In my years of research and experience of essential oils, I know there are specific healing qualities to certain oils. Qualities that I want in a face wash/cream without having to use any nasty chemicals. My goal here isn’t to find the fountain of youth, I just want healthy glowing skin, maybe fewer wrinkles, and to know what is in my cleanser 😊.  I also want it to smell good, straight olive oil is not that appealing to put on the face, it basically reminds me of spaghetti sauce, so adding several essential oils is important for me to achieve a nice scent 🌸.

Cleansing oil for aging combination skin:

  • 3 tbs Organic Olive Oil
  • 1 tbs Organic Castor Oil
  • 10 drops Carrot seed- wrinkles, sun protection
  • 5 drops Cedarwood- acne
  • 10 drops Cypress- circulation
  • 10 drops Frankincense- even tone
  • 10 drops Helichrysum- eliminates toxins
  • 10 drops Lavender- combats sebum oil, wrinkles, soothing
  • 5 drops Lemon- wrinkles, acne
  • 5 drops Orange- dull & oily skin
  • 5 drops Palmarosa- new skin cell growth, wrinkles

Most of these oils have antiseptic, antiviral, and antibiotic properties which is a plus as well, to really help clean out your pores. Again, as I stated earlier, I will only use Young Living Essential Oils. I prefer Young Living because of their Seed to Seal promise (Read more here). This is very important to me, you may choose a different brand, it is ultimately up to you.

Buy Young Living Oils Here

I mixed all of the above ingredients in a small glass bowl. I use these 2oz glass dropper bottles to store it in. If you don’t want to buy all those bottles, they do sell them individually at health food stores. Please remember to never store essential oils in plastic containers, they can have an adverse reaction and may compromise the oil when they come in contact with plastic.

Basically my routine for cleansing with this facial oil is; on a dry face, message about a quarter size drop of the oil into face for about a minute, concentrating on troubled spots. With a soft washcloth, soak it in hot water, as hot as you can handle and place it over your face for another minute. This helps the oils really get into your pores and it is like a mini facial, it smells great! Once you are done, gently scrub your face in a circular motion with the cloth. Dry face off and done.

I hope this was informative for some of you and you got something out of it 😊. For those of you that try the recipes, let me know what you used and if you liked it! For those of you that live close by and don’t have the resources or time to make either of these but would like to try them let me know and we can work something out!

Bathing Suit Season… Eeeeeeek!!

Back in September of 2014 I wrote a post and touched a little upon grapefruit essential oils and cellulite. I was thinking, since summer is quickly approaching and the sometimes (or in my case always) dreaded bathing suit (Eeeeeek!!!!) is being pulled out of the closet. Needless to say, it’s that time of year again and I wanted to share with you one secret that really works, like really really works and if you add a moderate exercise to your routine, you will be golden. Honestly.

Grapefruit EO’s help eliminate toxins from the body, and mainly from fat cells (huyah! Take that.)

Medical properties of Grapefruit essential oils:

Antitumor, metabolic stimulant, antiseptic, detoxifying, diuretic, fat-dissolving, cleansing for kidneys, lymphatic and vascular system, antidepressant. (88-95%) Limonene, which has been show to combat tumor growth.

Grapefruit essential oil has been used to help ward off Alzheimer’s, fluid retention, depression, liver disorder, anxiety, and cellulite.

Cellulite houses toxins and in order to eliminate it, you must detoxify the fat cells. That being said, my daily routine for the next few weeks (along with moderate exercise) is mixing a 1:4 ratio of Young Livings V-6 oil with Grapefruit Essential Oil and message into my “problem areas”. I am not a fan of naming like this, but for the sake of general understanding… We are all familiar with this term, thanks to the media.  You could also use coconut oil or some other carrier oil of your preference.

Also I add a drop to my water, about 1 drop per 24oz. Please use caution when using plastic bottles, the citrus can cause a funky reaction. I almost always use a large Ball Jar full of ice, refreshing and fun 🙂

To order Grapefruit Oil or Young Livings V-6 oil please contact me, I can get you a 24% discount off the retail price. Or ask me about becoming a member.

Chemical Household Cleaners = Bad

It’s been a while, I know, I know. I need to make more time to write and share with you the things I love. Essential Oils – Woot Woot! Seriously though, I have had a few people ask me when I was going to post again and that they enjoy reading my blogs 🙂 Woah! Heck yes! Thank you *Blushingwhilehidingmyface* Really?! Hehe, cool!

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about cleaning products… Is it bad that when I’m at people’s houses and they clean, I judge… *shameful*  Not in a real judgeyjudgey way… but I think to myself, “ew do you know how many chemicals are flying around the air, swimming up your nose, your children’s noses, or your pets noses… Floating up into your poor brain and mushing things around, all those chemicals cannot be good for you.” (those are my quick thoughts, all happening within 5 seconds.) It’s indoor air pollution, why do we subject ourselves to it? I know some people feel as though; if they do not smell bleach, they do not believe that it is clean… We need to be more informed about the chemicals that are used in cleaning products, to help people see that the “clean” smell, is not so clean at all. Here is one sure thing we all know, because it is stated on the bottle, if swallowed call poison control…??? Yes, I would like to spread that all over my house, that sounds like a great idea, please and thank you. No. No. Please do not. (Joking) They can irritate our lungs, skin, and eyes, they can cause chemical burns, and in some cases with long-term use, can cause cancer and neurological disorders. There are so many cases of asthma, allergies, and acute ailments these days, why are we all becoming sick…? I’m not saying that cleaners are the sole reason, but I sure as hell don’t think they are helping this problem! When there are chemicals in our cleaners that are “hormone disruptors” and mess with our body’s natural chemical makeup, you cannot convince me that this is good for us. Please! And then, when all is said and done, we flush it down the drain, into the ground and water system… into our plants which then we turn around and ingest… I could go on and on here. And I’m not in any way saying that I am perfect or that I would never use such a thing because I have. But, once I started doing my own research, I decided that they were not for me, or my family.  In no way am I saying that my friends or family members that use chemical cleaners are terrible people or bad parents, please do not take this the wrong way. I just want more people to think about and research on their own what effects these products might have on their environment.

Some of the common chemicals found in your everyday household cleaners:

Ammonia – Used in jewelry cleaners and polishes, ammonia can cause repertory irritation. Extended use can case chronic bronchitis and asthma.

Triclosan– found in most antibacterial soaps. Aggressive against bacteria, causing drug-resistant bacteria.

I would like to pause here for a minute and talk about the crazy over usage of antibiotics. Holy Moly people! Lay off, let your body fight the bad bacteria and build up a strong defense system. On its own!  Have you ever noticed that the people who are antibiotic/antibacterial crazy are always the sick ones…? Hmmmmm?? Want to know why, because the bad bacteria you are killing off with your over use of antibiotic/antibacterial things you are also killing your bodies good bacteria, leaving no fighting power for new germs. There are of course cases that Antibiotics are necessary to heal an illness, but stop thinking that it is required for every illness. If you have a virus… not going to work. Stop taking/using these things unless you really need them. Let your body fight its own battles, our bodies can do unbelievable things. Just think about it for a moment… We live our lives going about our day-to-day business, go to sleep and wake up the next morning and never stop and think about all the crazy things that are happening inside our bodies every microsecond of our lives. The human body is AMAZING!

Quaternary Ammonium Compounds or Quats- Found in fabric softener liquids and sheets. Quats is another type of antimicrobial, which again poses the same problem as triclosan. Helping breed antibiotic-resistant bacteria. *SEE ABOVE*

Sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite (bleach) – highly caustic, (able to burn or corrode organic tissue.) if mixed with Ammonia it will cause toxic fumes.

2-Butoxyethanol– Found in window, kitchen and multipurpose cleaners. It is a glycol ether, which is a powerful solvent when inhaled, at high levels it can also contribute to narcosis, pulmonary edema, and severe liver and kidney damage.

Phthalates- also known as “fragrance” on a label, are known endocrine disruptors. The endocrine system are the glands that produce hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, and mood, as well as several other things.

Perchloroethylene or Perc– Dry-cleaning solutions, and carpet/upholstery cleaners. Perc is known as a neurotoxin, a substance that is poisonous or destructive to nerve tissue.

Chlorine– Found in everyday products and even our city drinking water! This product can cause chronic illnesses; it’s a respiratory irritant. Studies are now saying it may be a serious thyroid disruptor.

I know this is a whole lot to take in! You might be thinking, “OMG, I have to replace anything and everything that cleans me/my house right now!” Sloooooooooooow down. Try working on one thing at a time, take one product in your house and replace it with a healthier option. Baking soda is a great one! It can replace so many things! Lemon Essential Oil!! Miracle oil! It’s like a natural Goo Be Gone, seriously. It can remove any sticky, gooey mess! Pine Essential Oil, cleans and smells fresh. My favorite cleaner is Thieves. You can use the oil or the cleaner that Young Living makes with all natural plant-based products and essential oils. I am telling you, it is the best fresh smelling product. I use it for everything, an everyday counter cleaner, floor cleaner, air freshener, laundry cleaner, dryer sheet, Best. Item. Ever. Evereverever! Really truly. We use it in a diffuser almost every day, especially during the summer months (I live in Arizona) when you would rather die than open up your windows for fresh air. It makes everything smell clean and refreshing. Thieves is a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary oils. The reason for the name you might ask? Well, back in the day (15th century France) when the plague was lurking all around, burglars (or thieves) would apply these essential oils on themselves to ward off the plague while robbing the dead and dying. The good that came out of it, we now know that these oils can clean the sickened air. Yahoo for learning!

Thank you thank you, as always, for reading and caring just a little bit about what I have to say.  If you have any questions or would like to purchase Thieves Essential Oil or the household cleaner or if you have interest in any other oil, email me or click on the link below to order. Thank you again. I hope you all have an information filled, spectacular  day!! Love to all.

Merry Christmas to All

Image | Posted on by | Leave a comment

Peppermint Lip Balm

1 tablespoon grated beeswax
1 tablespoon unrefined coconut oil
1 teaspoon vitamin e
5-7 drops of Peppermint essential oil

In a double boiler, melt down the beeswax and coconut oil. Stir continuously. After it’s all melted and blended together, stir in the vitamin E and essential oil. Pour into container or a tube and let cool.

You can use any Essential Oil you would like. My favorite is Peppermint, especially during this time of year. It makes me feel like it is the Christmas Season (even though I’m in Arizona and it never really feels quite right.)

You could also try a little clove oil to get a little lip plumping action, but be careful not to add too much. Ouch! It burns. 😉

Essential Oils and the FDA

So… I know, I know, it has been a while. I am so sorry, kind of 😉 actually to tell you the truth, I have been a bit frustrated with all the regulations that the FDA is putting on all of the Essential Oil companies and the fact that they are going after people who make claims of the oils healing certain diseases. The FDA will no longer tolerate any claims that Essential Oils heal. Ahhhh yes, I bet.
It angers me that they have such a strong hold on our rights. And it angers me that they have big drug companies in their back pockets which if kept happy there is more funding money than they would know what to do with. Oh wait, yah they would. Power! Muahahahaha! More power! Tell the people what they can and cannot do, we make the rules. Muahahahahahaha
I’m so tired tonight, just plain exhausted. I’ll let you in on a secret, I have fallen asleep twice while writing this. Zzzzz. I wouldn’t be able to put the words together to form an intelligent argument if my life depended on it.
But here it is, it is my right to tell people what has worked for me and what I have seen Essential Oils do for others. It is a freedom of speech. We are all given that right here in the USA. It is the First Amendment of our Constitution. How in the world does the FDA have power over that. Please!
It has been frustrating and I have had a hard time motivating myself to write, because now I have to think of clever ways to say why I am using certain oils. Rather than saying an oil had/has helped cure a cold, you have to say instead, it helps boosts your immune system. No longer can anyone claim that Essential Oils can cure. Which is just asinine. I have been using EO’s for a few years now and so has my family, and I have seen first hand the healing miracles they provide. I would rather heal naturally than take some nasty whoknowswhatsinit-cancercauseing drug concoction.
If anything, go after the fake sweater companies, go after the GMO food companies, heck even fight the no more Low Fat battle. All things stated have been shown to cause cancer. Ugh… Don’t get me going on the Low Fat craze. They have altered and messed with your natural food to take out all the fat (or close to it) to make it “healthier” for you?!?!? I’m sorry, what? Say that again please???? How could anything that was stripped of its natural goodness to then add back whoknowswhatsinit-cancercauseing chemical concoction be good for anyone?? Why is the FDA not worried about that???? Anyone? Could it be maybe those who have the most money get the pass. Those who can afford to pay certain people off, might they get a blind eye in their direction.
It sickens me and it frustrates me to no end. And I am now ready to pass-out I need sleep I hope Max doesn’t wake up soon I could sleep for days. 😁
